Summer’s end is rapidly approaching and will be even more evident on Sunday, Sept. 18, when more than 1,400 students move into the residence halls at Cal State San Bernardino throughout the day, starting at 9 a.m.

“Move-in Day” officially kicks off Welcome Week 2016 for students who will make the university’s residence halls and apartments their home this academic year. The week will feature a host of activities planned to help students settle into campus life before fall classes begin on Thursday, Sept. 22.

Returning students and new freshmen will move into the university’s Serrano Village and Arrowhead Village on campus, as well as into University Village, an apartment-style complex across the street on Northpark Boulevard.

Activities begin at Village Square on Sunday with a brief orientation from 5-6 p.m. with information about housing and residential life at CSUSB, followed by:

  • I Howl, You Howl, Ice-Cream meet-and-greet, 6 - 7 p.m.;
  • Yotie Friending at the University Village Pool, 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.;
  • Sunday S’mores and Pokémon Lures, co-sponsored Student Recreation and Wellness Center at Village Square, 8:30-10 p.m.; and
  • Café de Yotie-Mon at University Village Center, 10 p.m. – midnight.

In addition, there will be various Week of Welcome activities scheduled throughout the week. Floor meetings will be held on Sunday night.

There will also be a reception from 1-2 p.m. in University Village for all students living on campus for the university’s new Faculty-in Residence program, in which four new faculty members and their families will live on campus, providing both students and faculty a chance to get to know and learn about each other on a personal level.
