A two-part event incorporating a photo session with a workshop for small business owners on how to write a professional biography will be offered on Thursday, Sept. 15, by the Inland Empire Women’s Business Center, a program of the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship at Cal State San Bernardino.

The “Professional Bio and Headshot Event” will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Inland Empire Women’s Business Center, 3780 Market St. in Riverside. The cost is $75 per participant. To register, visit the IEWBC website.

Participants are encouraged to dress for success in their chosen field for their headshot, which will be taken by professional photographer Michelle Smith of Michelle Smith Photography in Redlands. Attendees should bring a flash drive so they can take home their digital image.

The photography session will be followed by an interactive, hands-on workshop about creating a professional biography that will introduce powerful strategies for highlighting business expertise and achievements, sharing a personal story and writing to impress. Participants should bring a copy of their current biography or a draft and be prepared to edit and refine their work during class.

“If you’re an entrepreneur or business owner, your professional bio is one of the most important summaries you will ever write,” said instructor Joan Stanford of Jazzy Pen Communications. “An impressive professional biography can lead to more inquiries, more clients, and more sales.”
