John C. McGrath, 77, professor in the Accounting and Finance department in the (then named) College of Business and Public Administration, passed away on August 14, 2016. Born in New York City in 1939, he attended Manhattan College, joined the United States Air Force, and completed his B.S. at the University of Arizona (Business Administration) as well as an M.B.A.  He retired from the USAF in 1979, after 22 years, with the rank of Captain. He spent the next 32 years working for the Housing Authority of San Bernardino County, retiring as the Executive Director.  He also spent 30 years teaching at CSUSB. He was active in the community and proud of his years of military service.  He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for his service in the wake of Hurricane Camille. His surviving family members included his wife of 56 years, Mary McGrath; two brothers, Thomas and Edward; two sisters, Ann and Eileen; seven children—John, Deborah, Michelle, Michael, Erin, Audra and Patrick; and twenty grandchildren.
