Walter Travis Stewart, Jr., 63, formerly professor of Information and Decision Sciences, (then-named) College of Business and Public Administration, passed away on December 30, 2015. Born in Salt Lake City in 1952, he spent his childhood there and in England and Germany while his parents served LDS Building Missions.  He received his B.A. and M.A. from Brigham Young University and his Ph.D. from Ohio University. He taught at CSUSB for 31 years, was the second department chair of IDS, and had served as acting chair of Marketing and of Public Administration. The CSUSB Cyber Security Alumni Facebook page shared, “It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Dr. Walt Stewart. Walt was a great faculty [member], chair, and mentor to many students and faculty alike.” The College created a memorial scholarship in his honor, stating that “Walt contributed to the campus life in many capacities during his time here as an author, innovator, committee chairs, mentor, advisor and other positions as needed. He loved students and his passion was teaching them. He will be greatly missed.“ He was very involved with contributing to the LDS church in numerous ways, and also volunteered for the Boy Scouts and as a coach / regional commissioner with the local youth soccer organization. He was survived by his wife, Marcia, and his eight children—Elizabeth (Tyler) Monson, Ann Fardanesh, Emily (AJ) Righter, Karin (Bryan) Brown, Jill Stewart, Michael (Joanna) Stewart, Katie (Ryan) Stouvenel and Matt Stewart—and 19 grandchildren.
