A 5-kilometer run and walk event at Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, May 13, will serve as a fundraiser to establish an emergency grant for the DREAMers at the university.

The “Chasing Our Dreams 5K” will take place on the lawn in front of the university’s John M. Pfau Library with on-site event registration 7 a.m., the 5K run and walk at 8 a.m., and resource fair afterwards. The marked, two-loop course will take participants throughout the campus, with the start and finish in front of the Pfau Library.

The run and walk is hosted by the Coyote DREAMers Ally Network and the DREAMers Resource and Success Center.

In addition to the run and walk the event will feature live entertainment from Pequeños Gigantes, Osvaldo Peña, Grupo Percibido, DJ Kuint and more.  Community organizations will also be present during the resource fair.

The entry fee for staff, faculty and the public is $20 per person; student entry fee is $15.  Participants can find more information regarding the event, and register, online on the Chasing Our Dreams 5K web page.

Coyote DREAMers Ally Network at CSUSB is a network of faculty, staff, and community members committed to providing services to the undocumented and DREAMer student body at CSUSB. The network is an extension to the DREAMers Resource and Success Center at CSUSB, which opened its doors on Nov. 5, 2015, in the Santos Manuel Student Union.

The network and the DREAMers center have the shared goal of providing as many resources as possible for this underrepresented community at CSUSB, and in the larger community of San Bernardino County. The DREAMers center has provided students needed resources, such as workshops, access to networks, advising, and a place where students can feel comfortable to seek assistance regardless of their immigration status.
