The Brewer's Sparrow is a casual visitor to campus, with two records of spring migrants (Apr 2010 and 2013) and four records of fall migrants (Oct-Nov 2009 and Sep 2011). It is a common migrant and uncommon wintering bird in the southern California deserts, and a rare migrant and winter visitor in the coastal lowlands.

Brewer's Sparrows can be identified by their brown streaky upperparts, pale gray underparts, brown cheek patch, narrow white eye ring, and finely streaked crown.
