The Golden Eagle is a casual visitor on campus: a juvenile was observed flying over on 22 Nov 2009. It is a rare, year-round breeding resident in the mountains and deserts of southern California.

The adult Golden Eagle can be identified by its overall brown plumage with a golden sheen to the head and its large size. Juveniles are brown overall with white wing patches and white base of the tail.
