The Pine Siskin is a casual visitor to campus, with at least seven records from October to April. It is an uncommon breeding resident in the mountains of southern California, and a rare and irregular fall and winter visitor to lower elevations.Pine Siskins are overall streaky brown, with yellow edges to the primaries (long, outer wing feathers), and a small, pointed, conical bill. It is probably best identified by its call, a long, rising 'zzzhrrreeee.'
