Joanne Whitlock, active-duty Airforce Major and assistant professor at CSUSB, breaks glass ceilings as an influential instructor in aerospace and defense. Both fields are male-dominated, with female officers making up only about 20 percent of the workforce.

Whitlock ensures that her students are supported by instilling pillars of self-confidence, faith and perseverance. “A quote that I like is, “Force the world to tell you ‘no,’ then keep going anyway!” she said.
