Faculty director of the South African summer study abroad program

Tiffany Jones, history professor, is the co-faculty advisor of the student-run journal, History in the Making, and faculty director of the South African summer study abroad program.

CSUSB study abroad to South Africa focuses on making a difference

History professor Tiffany Jones specializes in African history and is the co-faculty director of the CSUSB South African summer study abroad program. Her other research and teaching interests include Southern African history, medical history, psychiatric history, history of “third world” development and world history.

Jones, who is also the co-faculty advisor of the student-run journal, History in the Making, is not only knowledgeable in African history, but is also fluent in Afrikaans, has basic speaking ability in Zulu, as well as reading proficiency in French, German and Dutch.

She is the recipient of various grants and awards, has been invited to numerous conference presentations, and has published a number of reviews and publications. She is a member of the African Studies Association, the American Historical Association, the Canadian Association of African Studies, the American Society for the History of Medicine, International Society for the History of Medicine, and the Canadian Society for the History of Medicine.

Jones received her Ph.D. in history from Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada; her master’s in history from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada; and her bachelor’s, combined honors in English and history, from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada.
