Teaching
Dr. Gupta (PhD, Wharton School) is an expert in international management, strategy in a global context and also teaches study abroad business in China, India, Middle East and Europe courses at CBPA.
Research
Dr. Gupta is renowned for his contributions to the science of culture, sustainable strategic management in the emerging markets, managing organizational and technological transformations, and entrepreneurial, global and women’s leadership. He has authored or edited 16 books, including the seminal GLOBE project on culture and leadership in 62 societies, eleven on family business models, two on organizational performance, one on the Multinational subsidiaries in China and an innovative strategy textbook. He has published about one hundred fifty articles in international academic journals and as book chapters.
Business/Consulting
Dr. Gupta has been a consultant to many business schools and universities in India regarding their international initiatives and use of business simulations in teaching, and has been a program reviewer for international business and management programs for CETYS University, Mexico.
Professional Service
Dr. Gupta is the Associate Dean at CBPA. He has been the Principal of the GLOBE program on culture and leadership. He serves on the editorial board of more than a dozen international journals. He has been on the advisory board of several business schools in India. He has been on the board of several international conferences, and has been an invited speaker and keynote speaker at more than 40 nations around the world.
Awards/Recognition
Dr. Gupta has received several international awards and recognitions, including: fifth rank All-India in 12th class national board examination, third rank in the University of Delhi B.Com. (Hons), third rank All-India in Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India final examination, gold medal for outstanding scholastic performance in the MBA program of the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad, Japan Foundation one-year research fellowship for visiting University of Tokyo, Co-Principal of National Science Foundation funded GLOBE project on culture and leadership involving 62 societies and 170 country investigators, and Society for Industrial Organizational Psychologists Scott M. Myers award for applied workplace research.
Personal
Dr. Gupta is a strong advocate of international student exchange, cultural exchange and technological exchange. He has been instrumental in organizing and leading about 15 short-term study abroad programs over the past seven years. He is married to Bhakti, who is an entrepreneur who markets ethnic handicrafts online, and is active in spiritual endeavors.
