You can schedule ONLINE APPOINTMENT or IN PERSON APPOINTMENT
Students may reserve up to two appointments per day, with a maximum of two appointments within a five-day period.
Please bring a copy of the assignment sheet provided by the instructor, along with a hard copy of any completed work. Having these materials available allows tutors to provide the most effective feedback and support. Please note that the tutors at the Professional Writing Office can assist with brainstorming and the entire writing journey; not having a clue what to write is completely okay still and making an appointment early in the semester is highly encouraged. The office is here to support.
With the information provided upon appointment, a link to access the online appointment will be sent after successfully booking the appointment.
Students who expect to arrive late should call the JHBC Professional Writing Office at (909) 537-3704 before their scheduled appointment to avoid being marked as a no-show. A 10-minute grace period is provided for late arrivals.
Students who miss two appointments without notifying the center before their scheduled tutoring session may no longer be eligible to schedule appointments for the remainder of the semester. Tutoring services will still be available on a walk-in basis, subject to availability.
Appointments are scheduled in 30-minute time slots. While some tutoring sessions may require less time, longer assignments may require additional support. Students working on assignments that are several pages long are encouraged to schedule a second appointment.
No. The JHBC Professional Writing Center welcomes all CSUSB students, regardless of college or major.
Yes. Walk-in's are welcome; however, scheduling an appointment is strongly recommended. Appointments receive priority, and walk-in tutoring is available only as time permits between scheduled sessions. As the semester progresses and demand increases, walk-in availability may become more limited.
The JHBC Professional Writing Office provides support at every stage of the writing process, from brainstorming and organizing ideas to drafting, revising, and proofreading.
Following each appointment, tutors provide a virtual receipt by email that serves as proof of attendance. If the receipt is not received, please contact the JHBC Professional Writing Office at jhbcprofessionalwritingoffice@csusb.edu, and staff will follow up.
