Note: Recent taxonomic revisions have changed many scientific names and classifications. For the species below, old names that are common in the literature are given in parentheses.

Lists of rare native plants are maintained by the California Native Plant Society. The federal government and most states maintain lists of non-native species they consider noxious weeds.
