California State University, San Bernardino, has a distinguished record of providing academic excellence to the Inland Empire region. This has been made possible by the combined efforts of dedicated faculty, staff, and administrators.
Individuals who retire receive special recognition at a year-end luncheon and a CSUSB commemorative item such as a plaque or clock. Employees who retire from the University also have various opportunities to remain connected to the University through events and celebrations. Retired faculty may receive the designation 'Emeritus.'
Retired administrators who do not have academic retreat rights may receive the designation of '[administrative position title] Emeritus,' according to the following criteria:
- A minimum of seven (7) continuous years of service at California State University, San Bernardino, immediately preceding the date of retirement, exclusive of any other service in the CSU or any other state agency, including a minimum of five (5) years of service immediately preceding retirement at the level of Administrator III or IV.
- An annual performance rating of 'Very Good' or 'Excellent' in the two years immediately preceding retirement.
- The direct, immediate MPP supervisor or the division vice president may originate a recommendation for the designation of '[administrative position title] Emeritus,' e.g., 'Director of Public Safety Emeritus,' 'Vice President for Administration and Finance Emeritus,' etc. Recommendations not originating with a division vice president must be approved by the division vice president. Approval by the President is required before the designation may be made. Recommendations may also be initiated by the President and approved with the concurrence of Vice President's Council.
