How would you describe your work as a professor to someone who doesn’t know what professors do?
Answer
Beyond teaching I try to profess deeper understanding of social issues and movements for justice and equality, related to inquiry and observations based on evidence and social facts. One of the beauties of sociology is the discipline allows us to construct arguments around problems and perspectives that we live out in the institutions and daily interactions of society. We professors spend much of our time conducting research and providing service within our areas of expertise and to the communities of students, colleagues, universities and broader environs that make up our world.
