The symptoms depend on where in the body the bacteria is growing. If the bacteria infects the lungs, it can cause:

  1. A bad cough lasting more than 3 weeks
  2. Cough that brings up blood and/or phlegm     
  3. Fever and chills   
  4. Fatigue  
  5. Weight loss   
  6. Night sweats
