The All-New Performing Arts Center at Cal State San Bernardino
This visually stunning Performing Arts Center will be a notable addition to the campus of California State University, San Bernardino. It will greatly advance the University’s role as a leader in the arts by providing a world-class venue and state-of-the-art facilities for performing arts education. Its location at the front of campus will be a welcoming beacon that bolsters the University’s ability to foster relationships and partnerships with communities throughout the Inland Empire.
The Center will feature much needed spaces on our campus that are worthy of the caliber of our performing arts programs. Its cutting-edge design will offer faculty and students improved educational experiences and fuel generations of artistic innovation and scholarship.
The centerpiece of the facility is the 478-seat performance hall that will seamlessly accommodate theatrical and musical performances, as well as lecture type events. World-class sound, theatrical lighting and rigging systems will allow for the teaching of performance technology and encourage creative exploration. The facility will also provide sound isolated rehearsal spaces for the Theatre Arts and Music Departments, practice rooms and faculty studios for the Music Department, as well as dressing rooms and an expanded scene shop for the Theatre Arts Department.
This state-of-the-art performance facility will provide the infrastructure to hold innovative productions and events. It will be a premiere venue to celebrate the traditions and diversity of our campus and nearby communities. The Center will also serve to showcase the talents of our culturally and economically diverse students and faculty. Its surrounding setting, including a garden and fountain, will create a valuable public gathering space for people to enjoy.
With this new Center, we aim to significantly increase the University’s philanthropic support in all categories, acquire new donors, and create greater awareness about CSUSB’s accomplishments at the state and national levels. Through this campaign we hope to substantially expand the University’s services to the world by enhancing the study, creation, performance, and appreciation of the arts.
