President and Mrs. Morales believe that an international experience for a student transforms education into global understanding. For California State University, San Bernardino students— many of whom are the first in their families to attend college—studying abroad is often a life defining opportunity that expands academic learning beyond borders and into lived experience. Immersion in another culture strengthens critical thinking, cultural competence, and adaptability— skills that are essential in today’s interconnected world.

This new endowed fund, honoring President and Mrs. Morales, will specifically invest in students’ international experiences. These students return with broadened perspectives, increased confi dence, and a deeper sense of purpose. These experiences foster global citizenship, prepare students to lead in diverse professional environments, and empower them to become ambassadors for inclusion, innovation, and collaboration.

A single international experience can change the trajectory of a student’s life—and, in turn, the communities they serve. This fund will expand access to international education, strengthening students’ cultural competence and readiness for a diverse workforce, and commemorate the legacy of President Tomás Morales as he completes his service as President of CSUSB.
