“Education is key. It builds you up, opens doors for you, gives you opportunities. No one can take away what you’ve learned,” said CSUSB MBA alumnus, Patrick Marshall, consultant and founder of the College Collaborative System for justice-involved individuals.
"I believe in investing in myself and encouraging others to do the same. Education and continuous learning are crucial for personal and professional growth," said Gurpreet Gill ’23, CSUSB MBA alumnus and captain in the Santa Clara County Office of the Sheriff.
As a first-generation Latina, Marilyn Monroy, a CSUSB alumna and current graduate student, was inspired by her family to pursue higher education to help others. From overcoming imposter syndrome to mentoring fellow students, Monroy's story is a testament to resilience and the impact of community support.
“The doctoral program was amazing,” said Erika Tejeda, CSUSB Ed.D. alumna and principal at Liberty High School in Perris, Calif. “The relationships that I built during the program, the strength that I was able to gather from my peers and my mentors and the instructors.... I learned so much. I love CSUSB, and I’m a Coyote for life!”
The program, which is awarded to juniors, seniors and graduate students, provides financial assistance for those interested in exploring and preparing for a doctoral program.
CSUSB biology graduate Katelyn Schwarz was honored with the 2023-24 Professor Richard Fehn Scholarship for her academic achievements, research endeavors and commitment to advancing scientific knowledge.
