Spring 2024 Dissertation Process Checklist

  • Update Program Plan (depends on cohort)  
  • Between January-early March finalize Ch 4-5  
  • Scheduling of the Final Defense (Form 8)
    • Candice will coordinate with you if you want to defend via zoom, in-person or both.
    • Please provide flyer for distribution
  • By early March distribute entire dissertation to committee 2 weeks before final defense  
    • Consider defending mid-March  
  • By mid-March or first week of April (at latest but not ideal) complete final defense 
    • Scheduling defense mid-March is ideal to allow yourself about a month to do any final edits post defense. The submission deadline is April 15th.  
  • Completion of the Dissertation Final Defense (Form 9)
  • Check with Graduate Studies for submission deadlines & how to submit to ScholarWorks  
    • Consultation Deadline (optional)         Friday, April 12th, 2024 (5:00 pm) 
      • Before you submit your manuscript, meet with a thesis reviewer to review your formatting by this date. Consultations are optional. 
    • Submission Deadline            Monday, April 15th, 2024 (5:00 pm) 
      • Turn in the Committee Certification Form, upload your manuscript on Scholarworks, and pay the Digital Archiving Fee by this date. Students who do not meet the deadline must wait until next semester to submit. We encourage you to submit before the deadline! 
    • Publication Deadline Friday, May 10th, 2024 (5:00 pm) 
      • Complete all corrections for publication by this date. Do not wait until the publication deadline to submit your corrections - most manuscripts take two reviews. Allow several days for each review. 
  • Order cap and gown around February
