TEACH Grant

The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant provides up to $4,000 annually to students who commit to teaching in a high-need field at a low-income school.

Golden State Teacher Grant Program

The Golden State Teacher Grant allows the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) to provide one-time grants of $20,000 to students enrolled in professional preparation and other requirements.

Explore the resources below to discover options that can help you invest in your education:

This scholarship is awarded to a CSUSB college junior, senior, or graduate student admitted to the credential program that leads to becoming an elementary school teacher. If at the graduate level, the student must have received a bachelor's degree at CSUSB. Preference will be given to a student living in the local mountain community and maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Programs: Multiple 
  • Requirements: CSUSB Junior, Senior, Graduate student 
  • Preference: Local mountain community / 3.0 GPA 
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year

California Portland Cement Scholarship awards a scholarship annually to a full-time student in a teaching credential program, preparing them to teach math or science at the secondary level. 

  • Programs: Single Subject (Math or Science) 
  • Requirements:  Senior or Graduate Level 
  • Preference: Students with high scholastic standing 
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year

Charles and Shelby Obershaw Scholarship for Education provides scholarships to credential students in the College of Education. The award is for students who are at least juniors, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and have financial need.

Clara McKinney Scholarship provides a scholarship to a student studying early childhood education with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Consideration will be given to students who reside or have resided in the Barstow area. 

  • Programs: Early Childhood Education (Special Education)
  • Requirements:  Maintains 3.0 GPA, at least enrolled Part-time 
  • Preference: Resides or has resided in the Barstow area.  
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year

Dr. Brian E. McDaniel Endowed Education Scholarship supports students pursuing a teaching credential, master's degree, or doctorate in the College of Education with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students with financial needs and students living in the Coachella Valley.

  • Programs: Credential, Masters or Doctorate 
  • Requirements: Students pursuing a teaching credential, master’s, or doctorate in WCOE with a 3.0 GPA 
  • Preference: Students living in the Coachella Valley 
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year 

 

 

Dr. Ernie Garcia's Teacher Education Endowed Scholarship will provide scholarships to students enrolled in teaching credential or Master's programs within the Department of Teacher Education. 

  • Programs: Teaching Credential or Master’s in TEF dept. 
  • Requirements: 3.0 Undergraduate or Graduate GPA. Full-time Status. Graduate or Credential Level 
  • Preference: Financial need considered (not required) 
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year  

 


 

Dr. Randall Lynn Wright Memorial Scholarship provides support for students enrolled in a master’s or doctoral degree within the College of Education and who have a 3.0 GPA or higher. 

  • Programs: Master’s or Doctoral Degree 
  • Requirements: 3.0 GPA or higher 
  • Preference: Financial need considered (not required) 
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year 

 

Eva Mae Merchant Education Scholarship is awarded annually to students pursuing a teaching credential, with preference given to students who are in a field where there is a shortage of teachers. 

  • Programs: Teaching Credential   
  • Requirements: Pursuing Teaching Credential 
  • Preference: Credential where there is a shortage of teachers (math, science, and special ed) 
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year 

 

Margaret Lenz Scholarship provides a scholarship to a full-time student pursuing a teacher preparation credential. 

  • Programs: Teaching Credential 
  • Requirements: Full-time students  
  • Preference: Full-time students, if not FT students applying part-time may be considered 
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year 

 


 

The Marilyn Sauer Scholarship provides a scholarship to a student enrolled in the master’s degree program in Educational Administration at CSUSB with a minimum GPA of 3.5. 

 

Nicolas D. Ferguson and Sandra J. Ferguson Endowed Education Scholarship Fund supports students enrolled in the College of Education with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students must demonstrate an interest in Educational Leadership. Financial needs are considered but not essential. 

  • Programs: Educational Leadership 
  • Requirements: 3.0 GPA with an interest in Educational Leadership 
  • Preference: Financial need considered but not essential 
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year 

 

Pacific Premier Bank Scholarship Honoring Bing Wong for his Leadership in Scholarship Philanthropy  is provided to a student enrolled in the master’s program in the College of Education or interested in pursuing a master’s degree and demonstrates an interest in continuing education beyond a master’s degree. Financial need is considered but not essential. 

  • Programs: Masters 
  • Requirements: Enrolled in Master’s program  
  • Preference: Financial need considered but not essential 
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year 

 


 

Patricia Arlin Scholarship provides scholarships to students in a master’s program in the College of Education with a minimum GPA of 3.5. 

  • Programs: Master’s 
  • Requirements: 3.5 GPA 
  • Preference: Financial need  
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year 

 

SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union Scholarship provides scholarships to students enrolled in an education credential program who have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and demonstrate financial need. 

 

Shelby Obershaw Teacher Education Scholarship provides an award to a student in a teacher preparation program leading to the multiple subject or single subject credential at CSUSB. Applicants must have completed 12 units toward the credential and have a minimum 3.0 GPA during their junior and senior years. 

  • Programs: Majoring in Education  
  • Requirements: 3.0 GPA, Upper Division student (Junior/Senior), enrolled in 12 units (minimum) of coursework that applies to teaching credential. 
  • Preference: Financial need 
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year 

 


 

The Harriet and Martin Spitz Endowed Scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the College of Education's Special Education Credential Program or Master's Degree Program in Special Education. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. Ideally, students who demonstrate a strong interest in Special Education and are seeking education as a second career will be awarded. 

 

Victress Bower Scholarship supports full-time graduate students pursuing a degree in special education or intending to pursue a career in special education. Students must be residents of Riverside or San Bernardino counties and have a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Financial need is preferred. 

  • Programs: Special Education Program 
  • Requirements: Graduate student in special ed. Permanent residents of Riverside or San Bernardino Counties. Financial need. Complete the FAFSA and qualify for financial aid. 3.0 GPA.  
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year 

 

Vairin/Gonzalez Scholarship for the College of Education provides scholarships to students enrolled in the education program with a cumulative 3.0 GPA. 

  • Programs: Education Program 
  • Requirements: 3.0 GPA, Junior/Senior status, with a goal of teaching in the Language, Literacy, and Culture program, OR Graduate student in a Graduate reading program. 
  • Application Dates: Nov. 1 through March 2 each year
