Teaching Credentials

Teaching Credential Options

We are committed to providing excellent programs that prepare candidates for initial teaching licensure. We work closely with the more than 55 school districts in our expansive region to develop and implement teacher preparation programs for various school settings. The college is pleased to offer basic teacher preparation programs in:

Multiple Subject Teaching Credential

Those interested in teaching a range of subjects within their self-contained classrooms will benefit most from the Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, which authorizes them to instruct reading, writing, math, and the humanities from grades K—8.

Single Subject Credential

Graduates of the Single Subject credential program are authorized to teach one specific subject, such as English, math, science, home economics, history, or physical education, in most middle schools and high schools, in grades preschool and K–12.

Special Education

CSUSB's Special Education Credential Program provides a path to a California Educational Specialist Credential and/or a Master's, with specializations in Mild/Moderate Support Needs, Extensive Support Needs, or Early Childhood Special Education.

Career & Technical Education

This credential is for those candidates seeking employment with a Regional Occupational Program (ROP), Public or Charter School, or Correctional Institution. It is also beneficial for persons teaching in a community college, private secondary, or post-secondary environment.
