Bio

Hello Everyone!!! My name is Dr. Shirley Jean and here's a little information about me. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a Pedagogy concentration from CSUSB.  I then continued my education at Azusa Pacific University and earned an MA in PE in 2012. My dissertation research includes incorporating a mobility program to increase the functionality of students with orthopedic impairments, in order to increase their independence in the areas of transitioning, bearing weight, and peer interaction. In addition, I taught middle school physical education for two years and was the chair of the physical education department during that time. I have been teaching adapted physical education since 2013 and I am employed by San Bernardino City Unified School District, where I work at 27 schools. I am passionate about physical activity and mobility for students with orthopedic impairments, which led to earning a $45,000 innovation grant to start the Mobility Opportunities Via Education (MOVE) program within the school district. I am so excited to be back at CSUSB. During my free time, I enjoys spending time with my husband and twin boys.
