Conversations on Race and Policing to explore impact of violence on communities
Two free Zoom discussions coming up: Mia Arredondo and Edwin Cruz will explore healing after gang violence on Wednesday, Oct. 21, and Cat Brooks will discuss community responses to police violence on Thursday, Oct. 22. Both programs are open to the public.
Another great turnout at CSUSB’s Homecoming Week, held Oct. 5-10. Despite rain and strong winds, CSUSB students, alumni and friends enjoyed the Homecoming Bash and volleyball victory at the culminating festivities on Saturday.
The program allows students to apply academic knowledge in a professional setting, develop practical skills and gain a broader understanding of how local government serves the community. It also introduces students to the wide range of career opportunities available in the public sector and encourages them to consider public service as they plan for their futures.
From his upbringing in Spain to an academic career that took him around the world, Tomás Gómez-Arias never imagined becoming a dean. Now leading CSUSB’s Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration, he draws on the values of family and responsibility to guide his leadership and encourage students to embrace opportunities they may never have imagined.
