New Faculty Learning Community

The New Faculty Learning Community (NFLC) is a one-year FLC specifically designed for early career faculty (years 1-3 in different years of operation). In addition to building a community of mutual support, the NFLC provides time and support for developing scholarly approaches to teaching and learning in a culturally diverse institution. Starting from the principles of how people learn, participants explore course development and documented best teaching practices, while practicing evidenced-based learning methods during each meeting of the community. The cultural context of our students and their backgrounds is woven throughout the discussions. Significant time is devoted to participants sharing their own classroom experiences and growth, with reflective practice throughout.
