Cal State San Bernardino sociology major and DREAMer Lety Herrera attended the Jan. 30 State of the Union Address in Washington, D.C., as the guest of U.S. Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-Redlands.

“Lety is a student leader who plans to dedicate her life to serving others as a social worker, and why we should be supporting DREAMers like her by passing legislation such as the U.S.A. Act rather than leaving her with a sense of uncertainty while Congress plays politics with her future,” Aguilar said.

Herrera, who is a junior and has a DACA permit valid until 2019, has lived in the United States since the age of eight, when she was brought to the country from Oaxaca, Mexico. She is active in various university clubs and groups that work with undocumented students and people in the community.
