Bio
Dr. Nathaniel Bodell is a scholar of exercise physiology with a background in interdisciplinary health sciences. His research emphasizes collaboration across multiple fields, resulting in publications on recreational sports, exercise physiology, exercise at altitude, metabolic responses, motor learning, wearable technology, trail running, and wellness. His current research focuses on lipid metabolism in older adults and motor learning implications in simulated automotive racing. Since 2012, Dr. Bodell has been an active member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). He has served as a senior editor for the International Journal of Exercise Science (IJES) since 2018.
At California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), Dr. Bodell sits on the board of the Center on Aging, supporting interdisciplinary initiatives to improve older adult health and wellness. A proud CSUSB alumnus, he is dedicated to giving back to the community that shaped his academic journey. As an educator, he incorporates culturally responsive teaching practices to foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment. He mentors students on academic and professional development, supervises interns, and advises the Kinesiology Student Association. Additionally, he co-directs the Exercise is Medicine fitness assessment program.
