Join Adventure as we cruise on over to Channel Islands National Park for a backpacking adventure on Santa Cruz Island. This will be a truly remote and incredible trip. On this 3 day adventure, you backpack 13.5 miles form Prisoners Harbor to Scorpion Anchorage exploring the east side of the island. We will be treated to some of the most breathtaking views, and sleep under the stars!  join us for an unforgettable weekend!

Itinerary 

Day 1: We will meet at 5:00am at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center to load our van and depart for Ventura, CA to catch our 9:00am ferry to Santa Cruz Island. We will arrive at Prisoners Harbor around 11:00an relax by the coast until after lunch. Once lunch is ingested will put on our packs and hike 3.5 miles (700' elevation gain) to primitive Del Norte Campground where ewe will we will set up camp under the shade of oak trees. We will make dinner and enjoy our evening before going to bed.

Day 2: After breakfast we will pack up camp and our backpacks and depart for Scorpion Ranch Campground. The 10 mile trail (1400' elevation gain and 2000' elevation loss) will take us most of the day. We will stop for lunch on the trail and and enjoy 360 degree views on the island and ocean. We will arrive at Scorpion Ranch Campsite mid afternoon and set up camp and refill our water bottles. After resting our legs we will head to Cavern Point to watch the sunset. Upon returning to camp we will make dinner and call it a night.

Day 3: After a leisurely morning and some breakfast we will pack up camp enjoy a the last few hours on the island and then make our way sown to the beach to catch our 12:00pm ferry back to the mainland. Once on dry land we will return to CSUSB stopping for an early dinner if time allows.

Food
7 meals are included, starting with lunch on day 1 (2 breakfasts, 3 lunches, and 2 dinners)
1 meal is not included (1 dinner). Bring money. 

Hygiene and Comfort
We will be carrying our all our food, shelter, clothing, water and equipment in a pack weighting up to 50lbs. We will be staying in reserved campsites. The campsites are within close proximity to vault toilets. We will follow Leave No Trace to dispose of human waste on the trail. We will  bring enough water from CSUSB to last us until we reach our second campsite on day 2. There are NO showers and NO wireless service. You will have the option to share a tent with one or two people or sleep out under the cover of the stars.  Light weight tents, warm synthetic sleeping bags, foam pads and ground tarps will be provided to ensure a comfortable night’s sleep. The ground consists of soft and hard soil.
