Great California Shake Out

Great California Shake Out

October 17, 2019
All Day
CSUSB Campus

On October 17 at 10:17 a.m., the CSUSB campus will participate in The Great Shake Out to simulate what we would do in the event of a major earthquake. In addition to Drop, Cover and Hold On, this exercise will include evacuations of buildings; building and floor marshals will work to make sure everyone is evacuated from buildings.

    • DROP where you are, onto your hands and knees.
    • COVER your head and neck with one arm and hand and seek additional shelter by getting under a sturdy desk or table if nearby; and
    • HOLD ON to your shelter and be prepared to move with it until the shaking stops.
    • EVACUATE - ALL residence halls will report to their designated evacuation sites as follows:

      Arrowhead Village (Buildings 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6) - Parking Lot F
Coyote Village (Cajon Hall and Running Springs) - Parking Lot F
Serrano Village (Badger, Joshua, Mohave, Morongo, San Manuel, Shandin, Waterman) - Parking Lot D
University Village (Buildings 7, 8 and 9) - Dirt Lot by UV (towards University Parkway)

For more information, visit www.shakeout.org.Taking the proper actions, such as Drop, Cover, and Hold On can save lives and reduce the risk of injury. Everyone, everywhere, should learn and practice what to do during an earthquake whether at home, work, school, or traveling.
