Clery Compliance Team (CCT) 

The Clery Act is an Institutional Responsibility.  A multi-person Clery Compliance Team (CCT) works on behalf of the university to provide comprehensive oversight, review, revision, and implementation of all University activities required by the Clery Act. Several key campus representatives work together to implement this federal law and ensure overall compliance.

Purpose

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (the “Clery Act”) is an Institutional Responsibility.  A multi-person Clery Compliance Team (CCT) works on behalf of the university to provide comprehensive oversight, review, revision, and implementation of all University activities required by the Clery Act.

Several key campus representatives work together to facilitate the compliance of this federal statute by implementing Executive Order 1107.   The CCT is supported by subcommittees that work on specific topics and provide regular updates.  

The CCT is committed to being transparent and increasing awareness of the Clery program so students and families can easily stay informed about campus crime and security through reports and various media platforms. The Committee also oversees training and educational activities for  campus security authorities to ensure confidential, accurate and prompt reporting of criminal activity to  University Police.    

Composition

Membership of the core group will consist of the following various sector representatives outlined by EO 1107 or recommended by the CCT:

  • Athletic Director
  • Campus Counsel
  • Chief of Police
  • Clery Director who reports to a Vice President
  • Dean of Students or Vice President of Student Affairs
  • Director for International Programs
  • Director of Housing and Residential Life
  • Director Student Engagement (Greek Life Director)
  • Public Information Officer
  • Student Conduct Administrator
  • Title IX Coordinator
  • Vice President (Chief) Human Resources Officer,
  • Other experts and sector representatives can participate in subcommittees.

Meeting Frequency and Terms

The CCT will meet at least four times a year.  Each subcommittee will meet at least four times per year.

Expectations of Members

Members of the Committee and Subcommittees will readily employ personal, professional, and educational knowledge and experiences to the work to fulfill the purpose of the CCT.  This includes:

  1. Being familiar with the Clery Act and Executive Order 1107
  2. Actively participating in the meetings by providing feedback, comments and reviewing materials
  3. Completing follow up actions in a timely fashion
  4. Reading agenda and minutes in advance
  5. Expectations of the Clery Compliance Staff

The Clery Compliance Staff are the Clery Director, Clery Associate Director and Clery Coordinator.  They support the Committee and Subcommittees with the following:

  1. Preparing meeting agendas and minutes.
  2. Distributing documents in advance of scheduled meetings
  3. Preparing reports and compile information that supports EO 1107 and requirements of the Clery Act.
  4. Retaining CCT and Subcommittee files and information
  5. Providing regular reports of progress to campus leaders
