The House Wren is a fairly common migrant and winter visitor on campus from August through May. It is common, year-round resident in southern California, where it breeds in oak and riparian woodlands.
High Count: 6, Average Count: 1-3
The House Wren has pale gray underparts, a light brown head, and brown, heavily barred back, wings and tail. Like the Bewick's Wren, it often skulks in dense vegetation, but can usually be found by listening for its scolding, buzzy call notes.
