The Mountain Bluebird is a casual visitor to campus: a male was seen 03 Dec 2004 flying in heavy winds north of Parking Lot L (where the West Parking Structure now stands), and three males were seen flying over North Badger Basin in strong winds on 06 Nov 2013. They are uncommon wintering birds in the deserts and coastal lowlands of southern California.The male Mountain Bluebird can be identified by its overall bright blue plumage with a white belly, while females are pale gray overall narrow white eye ring, and pale blue wings and tail.
