Application to the Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) program
Multiple-step process
Office of Graduate Studies reviews an applicant’s college and university transcripts and other support materials to determine whether an applicant qualifies to pursue graduate studies at California State University, San Bernardino.
Applicant’s file is forwarded to the MSA Coordinator to determine whether an applicant meets MSA specific admission requirements and is accepted into the MSA program.
Applicant is notified by the Office of Graduate Studies (Graduate Admissions) regarding the MSA Coordinator’s admission decision.
MSA Coordinator contacts the candidate admitted to the MSA program to begin program planning and advising.
The minimum acceptable GPA for the MSA program is 2.75 (4.0 scale). The GPA is higher than that required by some CSUSB graduate programs. Graduate Admissions will calculate the GPA score based on the last 60 semester hours or last 90 quarter hours of course work.
The MSA program requires that a candidate complete the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) with a score of 470 or higher.
An applicant achieving only the minimum acceptable GPA and GMAT scores will not satisfy the Acceptable Admission Score of 1,050. See the calculation below.
(2.75 x 200 = 550) + 470 = 1,020.
Applicants pursuing the MSA program will be required to pass (or have passed) the CSUSB graduate entrance writing requirement before classification into the program. This may be satisfied in one of three ways.
Earn a score of “5” or higher on the GMAT Analytical Writing Section.
Earn a score of “B” or better in an analytical writing course (e.g., CSUSB “306” course, or an equivalent 300-level writing course offered by another college or university).
Pass the WREE challenge examination.
Have successfully completed prerequisite course work (or equivalent courses) indicated in the diagram above with a grade of “C” or better. Prerequisite courses (or equivalent courses) not yet completed must be completed before MSA 500 and 600-level course work may begin.
An applicant not yet having completed the graduate entrance writing requirement and/or prerequisite course work at the time of applying to the MSA program may be granted a conditional acceptance by the MSA Coordinator.
