Alumnus William “Bill” Stevenson ’84 has been involved with Cal State San Bernardino for more than 40 years, first as a student, then as a dedicated volunteer and adjunct professor of finance in the Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration.

As a first-generation student, CSUSB played an instrumental role in Stevenson’s life, providing him housing, employment and an education. The university also changed the trajectory of his career.

After graduating from CSUSB, Stevenson began a career in commercial banking and taught financial literacy seminars. In 2014, he was asked to teach the subject at CSUSB, which opened the door to a new profession he loves.

For Stevenson, staying connected to CSUSB and seeing the impact he has had is rewarding. Stevenson takes great pride in giving back and volunteering at the university. He is currently the chairman of the CSUSB Philanthropic Foundation and previously served as president of the CSUSB Alumni Association. Stevenson’s motivation to volunteer at CSUSB is to honor those who have paved the way and to inspire others to do the same.
