California State University, San Bernardino and Madras Christian College, India, have agreed to a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to foster academic cooperation and support internationalization efforts on their respective campuses.

The MOU signifies a commitment to promoting direct contact, educational and research cooperation among their constituents, including students, faculty, staff, departments and research institutes. The cooperation between the two institutions will encompass various areas, including study abroad programs, partnerships in academic programs, faculty exchanges and joint research.

“We are delighted to embark on this journey of collaboration with Madras Christian College,” said CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales. “This memorandum of understanding symbolizes our commitment to fostering global perspectives and enriching the educational experiences of our students and faculty. We believe that this partnership will open doors to new opportunities for cross-cultural understanding and academic excellence.”

Paul Wilson, Madras Christian College's principal, also conveyed his optimism about the partnership.

“This collaboration represents a momentous stride towards promoting intercultural exchange and advancing academic pursuits,” he said. “We look forward to the mutual benefits it will bring to both our institutions and the diverse array of students and faculty who will participate.”

Key points of cooperation outlined in the agreement include:

   Study abroad programs for Madras Christian College (MCC) students to study at     CSUSB for varying durations

   Study abroad programs for CSUSB students to study at MCC

   Collaborations in academic programs

   Special short-term academic and language programs

   Exchange of faculty members for research, lectures, and professional activities

   Joint research and participation in seminars and academic meetings

The terms, conditions and arrangements of these activities will be negotiated and documented for each specific case, ensuring that they align with academic, logistical and financial requirements.

The MOU will be in effect for a period of five years, with the option of renewal following a review. Representatives from both institutions will initiate discussions regarding renewal terms at least six months before the expiration of the current MOU. The agreement can be modified as needed through mutual agreement between academic and administrative representatives of both institutions.
