The Cal State San Bernardino Department of Art will host “Caution: Noisy Introverts – Inside New Contemporary Paintings,” an exhibition of new contemporary paintings curated by Matthew McMilon, a master of fine arts candidate and part-time lecturer at CSUSB, on Thursday, Dec. 10.

This free event is open to the public and will begin with an opening reception at 4 p.m. in the Visual Arts building, room 106 gallery. Refreshments will be served. Parking is a daily rate of $6 per vehicle.

The exhibition, which will be on display through Dec. 17, features work of more than 20 CSUSB students currently enrolled in the course Art 235. It will also feature the work of CSUSB alumni Stephanie Ceja and Trevor Bell, as well as select local artists. All artists will be present to discuss their work.

“As an educator, I want to encourage all of my students to embrace the chance to exhibit their artwork,” said McMilon. “Showcasing work and participating in an exhibition is a vital part of a thriving art career.”

“Between us we teach, advise, support and inspire a broad community both within the university and well beyond in the local and regional areas that CSUSB serves, as well as nation-wide and internationally with our community of partners,” says Matthew Poole, chair of the art department at CSUSB.

“As a student, learning to interpret, operate and productively challenge these creative visual and material languages involves gaining skills and knowledge that are a powerful currency in industries well beyond the art and design spheres,” Poole said. “These also filter down into all our everyday activities in exciting and surprising ways, enriching all our lives.”
