An exhibit of paintings by Sapira Cheuk, a Cal State San Bernardino master of fine arts candidate, runs through June 28 at Gallery de Fox in Santa Ana.
Cheuk’s exhibition, “Chiasmus—Material Selves, Linimal Spaces,” features signature works as well as her newest sculptural cut-out paintings and layered works. Her recent experimental paintings ask viewers to rethink tradition and, instead, explore how dimension in painting can create a dialogue with the subject. Gallery de Fox is located at 171 W. 2nd St, in Santa Ana.
On June 12, Cheuk also will be one of the four panelists who will discuss what contemporary art can do to advance acceptance along cultural and gender spectrums.
The free talk will he held from 1-2 p.m. at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, 117 N. Sycamore St. in Santa Ana.
Jane Chin Davidson, a Cal State San Bernardino professor of art history, also is a featured speaker on the panel.
After the discussion, Cheuk will then travel to the Gallery de Fox for her 3-3:20 p.m. talk about her latest body of work.
