Military women and women in military families will have the opportunity to learn to “think like a negotiator” at a two-day training seminar Thursday and Friday, Aug. 25 and 26, presented by the Inland Empire Women’s Business Center, a program of the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship at Cal State San Bernardino, in partnership with CAMEO and The Jonas Project.

“Think Like a Negotiator” will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the IEWBC office in Colton, 1003 E. Cooley Drive. Cost is $25 per participant, which will be refunded with attendance on both days. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

The training is open to women veterans, active duty women and reservists, and women in military families: wives, sisters, daughters, and mothers. Eldonna Lewis-Fernandez, a retired U.S. Air Force veteran with 23 years of honorable military service and a negotiation and contracts expert, will facilitate the two-day event.

The CEO of Dynamic Vision International and author, Lewis-Fernandez has more than 30 years of leadership, contracts management and negotiation experience, and has negotiated contracts from $1 to over $100 million, both stateside and internationally.

“Learning to create ethical outcomes through negotiation is a valuable skill for both business and personal relationships,” said Nicole Kinney, director of the IEWBC. “Whether it’s buying a car or getting kids to do homework, a skilled negotiator is prepared, knows what she wants, and knows what she can offer in order to reach an agreement that creates a win-win result. Eldonna’s training is always upbeat, engaging, and supportive, so that participants learn to ask for what they want — and get it — without creating a negative atmosphere.”
