Before the roasting turkeys came out of the ovens, a group of Cal State San Bernardino students, alumni, faculty, staff and administrators joined hundreds of other runners and walkers at the city of San Bernardino’s second annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day morning.

The event, which took place at the San Bernardino International Airport, featured a 5K (3.2-mile) run/walk, the San Bernardino City Team Challenge and a kids’ fun run.

While the run and walk raised funds for the San Bernardino Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, organizers also encouraged participants to donate food, which in turn was given to community organizations that provide food baskets for those in need.

Among the participants from CSUSB were President Tomás D. Morales and his wife, Evy; Doug Freer, vice president of administration and finance, and his family; Diana Rodriguez, president of San Bernardino Valley College and CSUSB alumna, and her husband, Jeff Barraza; Juan Herrera, assistant director of government and community relations; Michael Arteaga, CSUSB event specialist; Angie Arteaga, CSUSB Career Center counselor and alumna; and Lauren Harris, CSUSB alumna.
