“The minor classes were the first time ever being here at CSUSB where I finally felt like I was a part of a community and where I felt supported and welcomed by everyone.”
“Honestly, this experience was incredible and truly one of the most meaningful parts of my undergraduate journey. If there’s one thing I wish could have been different, it would be having more time in class. The discussions we had were very powerful, and almost all the time those class discussions would stay with me long after class ended. I always left feeling inspired, challenged in the best way.”
“As a sociology major, the counseling courses built empathy, curiosity, and understanding of intersectionality, history, and experiences explored. It emphasizes the awareness needed to navigate literacy, resources, and life. It demonstrated how relational an individual can be as life brings many topics and experiences into the conversation, which can be deepened with simple questions with complex and in-depth answers/responses.”
“One of the first things I learned is the array of possible job opportunities there are when becoming a counselor. It was mind blowing to see and learn about the different career paths and the different journeys many counselors have taken in the field.”
“This minor was crucial to my professional development. Without it, I’m not sure I would’ve been able to pursue my passion of becoming a social worker. It gave me some academic foundation, practical insight, and motivation I needed to move forward with confidence in my graduate studies.”
“The minor changed my life in so many ways. I do not know where I would be right now if it wasn’t for taking the minor courses. I am so grateful to have been a part of it and will continue to recommend it to any student who is interested not only in the counseling field but also for those who are wanting a transformative experience.”
