Section 505 - Personnel Policies, Rules and Regulations
In addition to, and apart from the position classification assigned to a position, a division, department or unit may grant to an employee a working title. A working title is a descriptive and informative designation that is used to identify the overall nature of the employee's duties. While a position classification may be used for a number of positions, a working title is usually distinct to a particular position.
It is the policy of California State University, San Bernardino, that all working titles be approved prior to their use. Prior to changing any position title, or the initiation of a new title, the appropriate vice president and/or director shall consult with, and receive approval from the Associate Vice President of Human Resources. The Human Resources Department will review the request and evaluate similar positions in parallel areas to determine whether the title is appropriate for the position and classification and whether it would affect any other position(s).
If there are any financial considerations, the Human Resources Department will determine the impact. If there are any costs involved, the requesting division, department or unit shall pay all the costs associated with the request.
