All CSU campuses have been directed by the Governor's Office to submit plans for reducing the amount of energy being used at each CAISO stage. CSUSB proposes the following conservation actions at each stage.

STAGES 1, 2, AND 3

  • Turn off excess lighting.
  • Put all hallways on half lighting and maintain safety levels.
  • Turn off computers, monitors, printers, and any other miscellaneous equipment which are not in use.
  • Turn off all chillers to drinking fountains.
  • Turn off lighting in all vending machines.
  • Put suitable vending machines on timers to go off at night.
  • Reschedule Thermal Energy System charging activities to avoid declared grid emergencies.

STAGE 1

Maintain HVAC cooling set point at 78 degrees F in the summer, unless such a temperature in a particular job or occupation may expose employees/students to a health and safety risk.

STAGE 2

Raise HVAC set point by one degree to 79 degrees F for a Stage 2 in the summer, unless such a temperature in a particular job or occupation may expose employees/students to a health and safety risk.

STAGE 3

Raise HVAC set point by two degrees to 80 degrees F for a Stage 3 in the summer, unless such a temperature in a particular job or occupation may expose employees/students to a health and safety risk.
