This newsletter's alumni highlight is Stephanie MacLean -- the Marketing, Membership, & Collections Coordinator at RAFFMA. Stephanie received her BA from CSUSB in Art History. She began her museum career by chance. 'I didn't really have a clear idea of what I wanted to do in the future. I began volunteering at RAFFMA to see if museums might be a good fit and ended up really enjoying it. There's something about that opening night - after weeks of long hours and hard work, being able to see everyone enjoy the exhibition by connecting with the art work or learning new things - it really makes it all worth it.' She suggests that students not limit themselves to one area of museology. 'Museums have so many different departments and people working in sync to make everything happen, so even if you know you're more interested in education or collections, having an idea of what goes on in the preparation or curation departments can only strengthen your understanding of your institution and your own role within it. Volunteer, intern and take positions in as many different departments and areas as you can! You never know what might uncover a hidden passion.' Thanks Stephanie, and congratulations on your successes!
