What kind of training and support is provided?

Those selected to participate will work as a cohort under the guidance of the TA coordinator. During the summer prior to teaching, the group will meet with the TA Coordinator to collaboratively design the course that the entire cohort teaches. The group decides on shared texts, writes a shared syllabus, and designs assignments. The TAs also attend a half-day workshop in September before the term begins. During the new academic year, TAs enroll in a 2-unit practicum in fall and winter quarters; the class meets once a week and provides ongoing discussion of classroom issues and pedagogical practices. The TA Coordinator will also visit classrooms and provide TAs with feedback.
