Transcript [ Music ] What I appreciate about the diversity here is that it's evident. From our students, our staff, our faculty, you can see clearly there's diversity of customs, our cultural and religious differences, our experiences, our personal experiences, the students' personal experiences, the various social economic backgrounds of our students. I believe that diversity expands a student education. I think it can have a direct impact on their future. I feel there's a positive effect of diversity when students work with people from other races, ethnicities, cultural backgrounds. I think it leads to a greater awareness and understanding of the world that we're living in. And I think it's just really important that diversity is expanded in our classrooms. I feel like I chose CSUSB for multiple reasons. One, the location I think was really important for me. They had a public administration program. I was very interested in public service, motivation, the public sector, and again, coming on campus, it felt like the right fit. So for me, diversity in the classroom is really about understanding each student's unique experiences. And valuing that. Valuing those strengths. And then appreciating what their experiences can bring to the classroom. So when I'm dealing with students, I'm not only a facilitator of knowledge, but I'm also in the process of learning. And I feel that it's very important as facilitators of knowledge that we also realize that we can learn from our students. [ Music ]
