people have this perspective that
accounting is just adding and
subtracting numbers and it's not what
you bring to the table
is the interpretation of those numbers
what does it tell you what does it tell
you about what happened in the past
and what does it tell you about what's
going to happen next and how do you
prepare for the future
my time at cal state san bernardino was
very important to my development as a
leader early on i knew that this was a
perfect opportunity for me to
practice some of these skill sets some
of my leadership skills in a very safe
environment where i was nurtured and
mentored so i got involved with being a
leadership role in my fraternity i was
the president of delta sigma chi i was
vice chairman of the student union
i was a vice president of the county
association so all these were
opportunities where i can be around
people who were supportive of me who
kind of
encouraged me mentored me and at the
same time especially working for the
student union it was gave me a lot more
professional platform and i got to work
with some of the deans and some of the
vice presidents of the different schools
and it was great because
they always encouraged me and kind of
made me feel empowered to kind of
stretch myself
what i appreciated about cal state san
bernardino and the professors in the
school of business is that they all had
prior careers in business whether it was
working at a partner or manager at a cpa
firm
having their own practice running their
own businesses
they brought that to the classroom
it's important for me to give back to
cal state san bernardino because
it's a strong piece of my foundation of
who i am today cal state san bernardino
definitely prepared me for later on
pursuing my mba at usc it gave me a lot
of the basis of my fundamental skills in
accounting and finance statistics
economics going back to usc for my mba
just helped reinforce some of those
skills that i had learned here
currently i'm the vice president of
finance for nissan foods you know us for
some of our historic brands cup of
noodles top ramen
i think future students coming to cal
state sandwich you know the biggest
opportunity is the diversity that this
university can offer you the education
that you're going to get here is top of
class but you want to go above and
beyond that you want to feel connected
to the university
and it's finding that home so look at
student organizations look at
fraternities sororities clubs
they're important pieces that make up
the culture here
