TRANSCRIPT [ Music ] >> What I appreciate about the diversity is that everybody on this campus can bring something to the education and the environment of our campus. If we have diverse individuals, we can shape ourselves or we can interact with each other to learn from each other. Because we are a learning environment, and anything that we can help for the students to not just learn what's in the classroom, but outside of the classroom as well. When your students come from different backgrounds, everybody contributes something to the learning process. We have different ways of looking at life, not just looking at the culture. But diversity also goes with individualism as well. So, if we encourage people to participate and to get involved, it will also give them opportunities to contribute to this society. As we recruit faculty, I'm very happy to see that our faculty population is also becoming more diverse. And diversity to me is more than just the color of the skin. It also brings in different backgrounds, different knowledge, different, just a different individual personalities, attitudes, and how we look at life. It's very important to have a diverse group of faculty that reflect our students so that the students know that they, too, can become successful and contribute to the university campus.
