Transcript 0:00 [ Music ] 0:04 >> So, my name is Kristen Hackett. 0:06 I am a senior sociology student who's going to be graduating this year. 0:11 CSUSB took on chance on me, like I said, my allowing me the opportunity to prove myself. 0:17 I know my intelligence. 0:18 I know my worth. 0:19 I know that I'm very determined and driven and that I can accomplish my goals. 0:23 And I just need someone who said, you know what, okay. 0:26 We're going to allow you the opportunity to do that. 0:28 It's changed my life because I feel like when I first went to college, I didn't have direction. 0:34 I didn't exactly know what I wanted to do or anything like that. 0:38 But here at CSUSB, I met with career councilors and learned career exploration and figured 0:43 out kind of what I want to do long term. 0:45 My time in the military began in 2013 fresh out of high school. 0:51 I went in for the resources to support my college education, 0:55 and I've appreciated my experience ever since. 0:57 What motivates me to go to college are my parents. 1:00 They weren't able to afford college. 1:02 They didn't have the opportunity or maybe the right tools or, 1:06 you know, tutors to go to college. 1:08 So, taking advantage of that opportunity and kind of living 1:12 out their dreams is what really pushes me to continue with my education. 1:17 Something I really appreciated about the staff in social 1:20 and behavioral sciences is just how willing they were to work with their students. 1:25 Even outside of the pandemic year, we -- when we had instruction in person, 1:30 they still were very accommodating to their students. 1:34 They really just want you to succeed. 1:36 They really just go the extra mile to make sure that we understand the material. 1:40 Hi, my name is Kristen Hackett. 1:42 I love CSUSB, and I'm a coyote for life. 1:45 [ Music ] 1:47 [ Howling ]
