I am a senior sociology student who's going to be graduating this year.

CSUSB took on chance on me, like I said, my allowing me the opportunity to prove myself.

I know that I'm very determined and driven and that I can accomplish my goals.

And I just need someone who said, you know what, okay.

We're going to allow you the opportunity to do that.

It's changed my life because I feel like when I first went to college, I didn't have direction.

I didn't exactly know what I wanted to do or anything like that.

But here at CSUSB, I met with career councilors and learned career exploration and figured

out kind of what I want to do long term.

My time in the military began in 2013 fresh out of high school.

I went in for the resources to support my college education,

and I've appreciated my experience ever since.

What motivates me to go to college are my parents.

They weren't able to afford college.

They didn't have the opportunity or maybe the right tools or,

you know, tutors to go to college.

So, taking advantage of that opportunity and kind of living

out their dreams is what really pushes me to continue with my education.

Something I really appreciated about the staff in social

and behavioral sciences is just how willing they were to work with their students.

Even outside of the pandemic year, we -- when we had instruction in person,

they still were very accommodating to their students.

They really just want you to succeed.

They really just go the extra mile to make sure that we understand the material.
