History

I can't imagine being where I am today without going to Cal State San Bernardino. 
I can't overstate the significance of the research opportunities. 
Cal State San Bernardino really does give students the ability to work with professors 
on a more personal level while also allowing them to experience and get a handle 
on some of the one-level research. 
That I believe, helped in preparing me for going straight from a bachelor's degree 
into a PhD program for UC Berkeley, which is one of the best resource institutions 
in California, and certainly the nation. 
Getting into my first choice really let me know that almost anything is possible. 
I wouldn't have been able to do it without taking advantage of just 
about every opportunity that CSUSB provides. 
CSUSB helped me in getting into Berkeley in a lot of different ways. 
One of the biggest ones was they give students a lot of opportunities to present their research. 
And that helped immensely because going into the interview for UC Berkeley, 
I was interviewed by essentially all of the professors in the Near Eastern Department. 
And while I was really nervous, once I actually started talking, 
and once I started hearing the question that they asked, 
I realized I'm actually very prepared for it because I had gone 
through so many presentations with CSUSB. 
And I had really been able to hone my talking points. 
CSUSB has helped me achieve my academic goals in a variety of different ways. 
One of the main ones was the Mellon Mays program. 
I was part of the second cohort ever at CSUSB. 
I didn't really know what it took to apply to grad school, what even needed to be considered. 
And the MMUF really showed me what is available as far as resources 
and how to utilize those resources to make myself 
as appealing as possible to these programs.

I love CSUSB, and I'm a Coyote for life.
