The Institute for Research, Assessment & Professional Development provides clinical opportunities for Master’s degree Rehabilitation Counseling students through two potential clinical options:
The Institute serves as an assessment center for the southern California region utilizing a service-learning model to provide counseling, vocational assessment and evaluation, and consultation to public agencies (i.e., Department of Rehabilitation, public schools, corrections). Master's level rehabilitation counseling students have access to current technology and experiential activities to enhance their skills and strengthen their professional development in counseling and assessment procedures. The Institute provides Comprehensive Vocational Evaluations and Situational Assessments for transition aged youth to elder individuals who are receiving services from the Department of Rehabilitation.
The Institute provides neurofeedback interventions in two locations (San Bernardino and Palm Desert) for the treatment of symptoms of ADHD, Anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Academic Cognitive Enhancement, Anger/Conduct Disorder, Cognitive Decline with Aging, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and other conditions. Neurofeedback, also known as cognitive rehabilitation or EEG biofeedback, is a ground-breaking technique that challenges the brain to function better. This powerful brain-based technique has been successfully helping clients around the world for more than 30 years. The effectiveness of neurofeedback for adults and children with a wide variety of symptoms has been repeatedly concluded in numerous research studies.
